Jo Jingles - The Music and Movement Experience

by - September 18, 2017

Millie and I were invited along to a free taster session of a baby music group, Jo Jingles, and although it isn't what I would normally review, I couldn't turn down the opportunity to try something new.

Jo Jingles are song and movement classes for children from 3 months to 5 years. Each week the class has a different theme and the children learn and sing nursery rhymes and action songs with the help of Little Jo, a puppet who joins in with the classes. As well as the songs, there are games, books, sensory experiences and musical instruments for the children to enjoy.

The session we attended was in the downstairs bar area of the Corn Exchange Theatre, Broad Street, Stamford but there are lots of classes nationwide. At the Corn Exchange, there's a lift down to the bar area, baby changing facilities in the toilets and plenty of space for the prams. The group was good fun and Millie really enjoyed it. She was joining in with all of the songs, laughing and doing lots of bouncing! I was impressed with how many songs and activities we got through in 45 minutes without it feeling like we were rushing from one thing to the next. The gentleman leading the group, Andreas, was really friendly and Millie was fascinated by him and kept watching him when he sang. Although lots of people knew each other in the group, I was made to feel very welcome by Andreas and the other parents/grandparents.

Classes are grouped by the age of the children although there are also some mixed-age classes which is great if you have more than one child. The full timetable for classes can be found here

Now for the cost side of things - classes cost £5 for children over 6 months and £2.50 for children under 6 months (you pay for a block of either a half or a full term). All new customers with children over 6 months get a 3 consecutive week trial for just £10 with no obligation to continue after. There is a compulsory admin fee of £3.60 which is payable every full term (ie. once in autumn, spring and summer). There is also a 50% sibling discount if children attend the same class. I really like the fact that you have the opportunity to do catch up classes if you miss a class you have booked on to.

I would definitely recommend these classes to parents as they are friendly, exciting and energetic. Not only that but the children are learning so much whilst having lots of fun!
