Rutland Water Golf Club, Lodge Farm

One Saturday afternoon after a bit of shopping with my parents, we decided to go for a calm and relaxing cup of tea and slice of cake at Rutland Water Golf Club (between Manton and Edith Weston). Little did we know it would be the opposite of calm and relaxing - there was a wedding reception taking place in the clubhouse! It was a little strange sitting having a cuppa and cake among well-dressed wedding guests whilst looking like the poor relative in jeans and a hoodie. It was even worse when I had to wade through the guests to get to the changing facilities! On the plus side, the changing facilities were good with a large enough space for the pram and a changing table with a safety strap. I was waiting to use the facilities for a while though as the door was locked until someone who works there told me he thought the door was locked from the outside and no one was in there. Thank god that when he unlocked the door there wasn't someone in there using the toilet!

There's a slight step into the clubhouse which proved a little tricky with the pram (and I saw quite a few people trip on it on their way in - you have been warned!). There are at least 3 wooden highchairs with trays and there is enough space between the tables to make it easy to bring the pram in. All of the tables are suitable to sit at as there's so much space and there's also a beautiful courtyard area which is a gorgeous place to sit on a sunny day. Make sure you do some strawberry, raspberry and asparagus picking too at Rutland Water Fruit Farm if you visit during the summer!

Unfortunately, they only had scones and one slice of Victoria sponge but I'm assuming this was because they had a wedding on and it was also around 4pm on a Saturday so they'd probably sold a lot of cakes earlier on in the day. My dad had a scone and said it was good - he's a baker so I'd take his word for it!

The staff were really friendly and helpful. I felt they were really attentive even though there was a wedding there. I'd definitely like to go back so I can try more cake and experience the clubhouse on a less busy day!
