Selina’s Tea Room at Calmababy, Peterborough

Calmababy offers classes such as pregnancy yoga, baby massage, aquanatal, birthing education and baby swimming to name a few. Within the same building is Selina’s Tea Room but you don’t need to be a member of Calmababy to visit the cafe.

There’s free parking and access into the building is easy. There’s plenty of space for prams and you can manoeuvre between the tables easily. Selina’s Tea Room seems to have thought of everything and have made a wonderful child-friendly space. They have at least 15 Ikea highchairs, two bouncer chairs, plastic plates/bowls/cutlery, a microwave and a comfy sofa area.

As well as the above, there’s a gated indoor play area with plastic things to climb on and crawl under, a slide, books and a bead maze. They have a high ‘bar’ area so you can sit on a stool, keep an eye on the children and try and eat some cake in secret!

In addition to the indoor play area, there’s an outdoor play area with seating too!!! The outdoor area has small trikes, Little Tikes cars, slides, climbing frames, rocker toys and a sandpit. I was gutted it was really wet the day we went.

The food and drinks here are really good and reasonably priced. The menu has lots of choice with sandwiches/paninis (about £7) but also breakfasts (approx £5), light lunches (approx £7) and hot main meals (approx £8). Items on the children’s menu start at £1.30 (sandwich) up to £4.50 for items like sausage and mash and spaghetti bolognaise. The choice of food is brilliant and the quality is really good.

The changing facilities here have a drop down changing table with a strap, a step stool, a toddler toilet seat, a potty and a Boon potty bench - which I had to Google as I had no idea what the strange contraption was!

Staff here are really friendly and you feel at home and relaxed straight away. You seem to just get that vibe that if your child has a tantrum, no one would judge or bat an eyelid. It’s a wonderful cafe which we can’t wait to come back to!
