East Carlton Country Park near Market Harborough

by - September 18, 2018

East Carlton Country Park is somewhere Millie and I have visited a few times but I've never written about it before. We like to come here for the beautiful walks and because it has free parking which is always a bonus.

Before this visit (August 2018), we'd never actually been in to the playground they have here. It's a gated area but no-one other than me seemed to shut the two gates whilst we were there. Unfortunately, the zip wire was broken and there was quite a lot of rubbish in the playground and along the walk we took too. Below shows some pictures of the different equipment in the playground.

After a trip to the park, we went for a walk to look at some of the sculptures they have. Millie's favourite was definitely a large door with big key-holes. She particularly enjoyed it when I picked her up, put my arm around the door and took a photo of her from the other side...it's not as easy as it sounds!

East Carlton Park has a cafe on site with two (odd-looking) plastic highchairs with trays, a children's menu and free wifi. The prices all looked reasonable but we only had a drink here. I did notice you have to spend £5 minimum to pay by card which is worth knowing beforehand. The coffee unfortunately came from a machine so I avoided it and had a cold drink instead. Be warned, you'll get told off (politely) if you let your little one sit on the counter whilst you look for your purse...it's been a while since I was told off so was pretty mortified!

They also have craft workshops, walking groups, a lovely shop with really friendly staff and activity days/events - check out their Facebook page by clicking here.

The walks and playground area here are a lot of fun and I love that there's free parking so I'm giving East Carlton Park a rating of...
