Javawocky, Uppingham

by - January 07, 2019

I was so pleased when Javawocky opened in Uppingham in April 2018 and we finally got round to visiting over the summer. Access into Javawocky is easy with a pram/stroller but there are two steps to get to the back of the cafe. I managed them easily though and I'm a pretty bad 'driver'. There's space to park up the pram at a few of the tables despite it being quite a small premises. You have to place your order at the counter which can be a little tricky if you've got a baby in tow but the food and drinks are brought over to your table, saving you having to struggle.

Javawocky have two wooden highchairs with straps which are a pretty good height for the tables. Although they don't have a children's menu there are a few things you can get for toddlers such as croissants, teacakes, scones, toasties or if they're a little older they are bound to love Javawocky's tasty 'freakshakes' which are a whole new level of milkshake goodness. Javawocky have told me they are hoping to introduce a children's menu deal soon which would be fantastic! The price of food here is good and I really enjoyed my toastie and cup of tea.

There are two steps to get to the toilets but it's way too much of a squeeze for the pram so make sure you don't try and take it with you. The changing facilities can be found in the ladies/accessible toilet and consist of a drop-down changing table.

The thing I love about Javawocky is the fact that they have children's books and toys to keep your little ones entertained whilst you enjoy your slice of cake, sweet toastie (yes, you read that correctly...a SWEET toastie) or waffle covered in ice cream, chocolate sauce, cream and chocolate sprinkles!

If you need even more reasons to visit, the staff are friendly, they have free wifi and dogs are welcome. All in all, a brilliant cafe in a lovely town.
