Sunset Lakes Cafe and Play Area, Peel

by - February 04, 2019

Sunset Lakes is a truly unique place with fishing lakes, a tackle shop, holiday accommodation, an education centre (currently under development) and a cafe and play area. I was really blown away when we arrived at how beautiful the setting was and couldn't wait to try the cafe and play area.

The cafe has plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors (under cover) with easy access and plenty of room if you had your pram with you. It was great to see at least 7 wooden highchairs so this could be a good place for a group of parents to meet. The menu consists of a children's menu with hot and cold meals priced at a very reasonable £4.50. The main menu has a wide variety of food such as paninis (from £6.25), jacket potatoes (from £4.25) and various breakfast items (from two slices of toast at £2.75 to a full English at £9.95). The menu doesn't contain any 'free-from' options but does suggest talking to a member of staff if you have an allergy/intolerance. I was impressed with the food and drinks and it isn't often you can enjoy a panini whilst looking at stunning views.

The baby changing facilities in the accessible toilet are big and very clean with a drop down changing table.

Within the cafe, they have colouring books and crayons to keep the children entertained whilst indoors but the pièce de résistance is the amazing outdoor play area. With slides, a wobbly bridge, huge chalkboard and boat (to name a few), there is plenty of equipment for children to enjoy.

It's worth mentioning that dogs are only allowed outside the front of the cafe on a grassy area with picnic tables but they are not allowed in the cafe, play area or around the fishing lakes.

I think the children's menu is excellent value for money, the play area is a lot of fun and the setting is stunning so I've given Sunset Lakes Cafe and Play Area a rating of 'amazing'.
