Home of Rest for Old Horses, Douglas, Isle of Man

(Written November 2018)
The Home of Rest for Old Horses is where you can find retired horses, ponies and donkeys waiting to be stroked and fed. Food can be bought from the gift shop for a small fee. Entry is free but donations are greatly appreciated.

There's a cafe serving hot drinks, sandwiches and toasties all for a very reasonable price. The cafe has three plastic highchairs with trays and some small plastic toddler chairs too. Within the cafe there are baby changing facilities with a drop down changing table and there were even baby wipes available to use. The staff at the cafe are incredibly friendly and I was particularly happy to meet a lady wearing a Christmas jumper at the start of November. She was lovely to Millie and even gave her a small bag of sweets for singing 'Hop-tu-Naa'.

There is a lot of (free) parking and the whole area is pushchair friendly. Unfortunately, the Home of Rest isn't open all year round but they do open during school holidays (check their Facebook page) and in the summer months.

Open between May - 13th September Sun-Fri 10am-4pm.
Closed Saturdays.
